Charging Session Activation Methods

Epic Charging provides various charger access options for both Level 2 and DC fast chargers, offering users a versatile range of configurations.

1. Start by navigating to the 'Locations' tab within your Epic account.

2. Click on the Location you want to configure, then click on the 'Chargers' tab and configure settings as intended based on the definitions and guidelines provided below.

Simply Plug

This method facilitates charging without requiring any specific authorization process. Users simply plug the connector into their electric vehicle (EV) to commence charging.

Additionally, it offers the option to schedule charging sessions, allowing users to avoid peak hours and optimize charging costs. Notably, charging schedules can be configured for individual chargers, albeit not in conjunction with the methods described below.

RFID Card

Access authorization for the charger requires activating the RFID toggle to the 'ON' position.

To commence charging, users must plug the connector into their EV and swipe an RFID card. Notably, there is no cost incurred by the end user through this method.

QR Code

Access authorization for the charger requires activating the Payments toggle to the 'ON' position. This method entails a simple three-step charging session process:

  1. Plug the charger into the EV, scan the QR code on the charger, and use a credit card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay via a smartphone browser to commence charging.
  2. Typically, $15 is pre-authorized, and the charging session begins promptly without the need of a mobile app installation.
  3. Upon unplugging the EV, any remaining balance will be refunded.

Additionally, the charger host can enable a PIN code requirement for access.

Credit Card Reader

A credit card reader can be used to compliment the QR code method. Charging session can be initiated in 3 simple steps:

  1. Plug the charger into the EV and follow the instructions on the credit card reader.
  2. Typically, $15 is pre-authorized, and the charging session begins promptly.
  3. Upon unplugging the EV, any remaining balance will be refunded.

This method can be used in conjunction with other methods such as the RFID card and QR code for added flexibility and user convenience.
