Epic Charging integrates with Leap to allow fleet customers to take advantage of grid revenue opportunities

Epic Charging integrates with Leap to allow fleet customers to take advantage of grid revenue opportunities.

Fleet owners can generate revenue simply by not charging vehicles during periods of peak demand on the power grid. In partnership with Leap, Epic enables its customers to integrate their fleets into electricity markets and participate in demand response and other grid services programs that offer incentives for curtailing non-essential energy usage when the grid is strained.

A small EV fleet would contain 10-15 vehicles, typically charging overnight and going on routes every day. However, charging those vehicles during peak hours increases peak load on the grid, exacerbating the use of polluting power plants to balance supply and demand. As an alternative, grid operators will compensate energy consumers for reducing their usage during these peak periods. Through Leap's platform, Epic Charging's fleet customers can connect to energy markets to access these grid revenue streams. Epic Charging is leveraging cloud technology to connect all benefits of going electric in one place: smart charging, vehicle telematics, grid flexibility markets and reporting. All that ensures that the vehicles are charged at a minimum price, at the most optimized grid time, with the least carbon intensity.
