Top FAQs: answers to common Epic Charging questions
This guide includes answers to the most frequently asked questions from Epic Charging users.
Q: How do I create an Epic Charging account?
A: Download the Epic Charging app from the Apple App Store or Google Play, open it, and tap Sign Up. Enter your email and create a password, then tap the Verify Email button in the welcome email we send you. Once your email is verified, add a payment method and you're ready to charge.
Q: The Verify Email link from the welcome email isn't working.
A: That usually happens when the link is opened in a different browser or on a different device than the one running the Epic Charging app, or when the link has expired. Try this:
Make sure the Epic Charging app is installed and open on the same phone.
Open the welcome email on that same phone and tap the Verify Email button directly — don't copy the link.
If the link still fails, request a new verification email from the app's login screen.
If it still fails, an Epic Charging support agent can verify your email for you — just contact us at support@epiccharging.com.
Q: How do I log in?
A: Open the Epic Charging app, enter the email and password you used when you signed up, and tap Log In. If you forgot your password, tap Forgot Password on the login screen to reset it by email.
Q: I can't log in — what do I do?
A: Quick checks:
Double-check that the email is the same one the welcome email was sent to.
Reset your password via Forgot Password.
Make sure your email is verified (you should have tapped the Verify Email button in the welcome email).
Update to the latest version of the Epic Charging app.
If none of that works, please use your account email to contact Epic Charging support directly at support@epiccharging.com.
Q: How do I reset my password?
A: Follow these steps:
On the Epic Charging app login screen, tap Forgot Password.
Enter your account email.
Check your inbox (and your spam folder) for the reset email.
Tap the reset link and choose a new password.
If the reset email doesn't arrive within a few minutes, check that you're using the exact email that's on your Epic Charging account.
Q: How do I find a charger?
A: Open the Epic Charging app and look at the map on the Home screen. Available chargers are shown as pins. Tap a pin to see pricing, connector types, and real-time status. You can also search by address or tap a charger to build a route in Google Maps or Apple Maps.
Q: How do I start charging from the Epic Charging app?
A: Follow these steps:
Open the app and find an available charger on the map.
Tap the charger to see its pricing and connectors.
Plug the charger into your EV.
In the app, select the connector you plugged into and tap Start Charging. A payment method must already be on file.
Your preferred payment method will be charged at the end of the session.
Q: How do I stop charging?
A: When your EV has reached the charge level you want, simply unplug the charger — that ends the session automatically. You can also tap Stop Charging in the Epic Charging app before you unplug.
Q: How do I pay?
A: Three ways, depending on the charger:
In the Epic Charging app: add a card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay under Payment Methods. You're charged at the end of the session.
QR code (no app): scan the QR on the charger, enter payment in your phone browser. Typically $15 is pre-authorized; any unused amount is refunded when you unplug.
Credit card reader (if the station has one): plug in, follow the reader's prompts, tap/swipe your card. Same $15 pre-auth / refund model.
Q: Why was I charged $15 up front?
A: That's a pre-authorization, not a final charge. Epic Charging holds $15 to make sure your card is valid. When you unplug, the actual session cost is calculated and any unused pre-authorization is released back to your card, usually within a few business days depending on your bank.
Q: How do I add an RFID / charging card to the Epic Charging app?
A: Follow these steps:
Open the app and go to Profile > Charging Cards.
Tap Add Card.
Enter the serial number from the back of your RFID card.
Give the card a name (e.g., "Home" or "Work") and tap Activate.
Your card now works at any Epic Charging Network station, and sessions will be billed to your Epic Charging account. You can also check the "Adding RFID cards through the Epic mobile app" user guide.
Q: How do I delete an RFID card?
A: Go to Profile > Charging Cards, tap the card, tap the trash icon, and confirm.
Q: Can I charge at a Tesla Supercharger through Epic Charging?
A: No. Epic Charging does not support Tesla Superchargers. You won't find Tesla Superchargers on the Epic Charging map, and Epic Charging cannot start or pay for a session at a Tesla site. If you need a Tesla Supercharger, you'll need to use Tesla's own app and account. The Epic Charging app can show you the nearest Epic Charging locations if you'd like.
Q: Which networks work with Epic Charging?
A: The Epic Charging app lets you find and pay at stations on the Epic Charging Network and supported roaming partners where available, without needing separate apps. Tesla Superchargers are not supported. If a specific public station you want to use isn't on the Epic Charging map, that station isn't currently in the Epic Charging Network.
Q: How do I set a Time of Use (off-peak) schedule on my home charger?
A: In the Epic Charging app, open the charger, go to Schedule, and set the hours you want charging allowed. Scheduled charging lets you avoid peak electricity rates and is available on supported home chargers (e.g., Grizzl-E Ultimate). Session Scheduling is a per-charger setting and can't be combined with some access methods like RFID-only workplaces. You can also check the "Setting Time of Use schedule in the Epic Mobile App" user guide.
Q: All the chargers at this site are in use — can I get in line?
A: If the site has Waitlist enabled, yes. In the Epic Charging app, tap Join Waitlist on the Location screen. You'll get a push notification when it's your turn. From a QR code, scan and you'll be offered Join Waitlist with an email confirmation instead. Heads-up: once it's your turn, you have a short window (5–20 minutes, depending on the site) to plug in and start charging, or the next person in line gets the spot. Check the "Waitlist" user guide to learn how to join the waitlist via QR code or the Epic mobile app.
Q: Where do I see my charging history / receipts?
A: Open the Epic Charging app and go to Charging History (under your profile). Every session shows the location, energy delivered, duration, and cost. Receipts are also emailed to the email on your account.
