Redwood City, California - June 26, 2023 - Epic Charging, a Silicon Valley-based technology company is delighted to announce its recent donation to a Ukrainian family to provide access to reliable electricity during blackouts. By connecting their home to the family’s Nissan LEAF electric vehicle, Sergii and his family were able to keep the fridge and other critical appliances running during their time of need.
As the war in the Ukraine continues, more and more people are left without access to basic infrastructure which includes reliable electricity. Unfortunately this leaves people with few options and many have turned to diesel generators to satisfy their basic necessities. The problem is that these generators are expensive to run, noisy, and create harmful emissions.
The Ukrainian family, who experienced regular interruptions when the power went out, knew there must be a way to solve their problem by using the battery in their Nissan LEAF. Sergii was able to connect with EV expert Russell Vare, to find a Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) solution to keep the lights on without interruption. Thanks to the generous support from Epic Charging, Sergii was able to receive a V2L device from Setec to start powering his home with a reliable and environmentally friendly energy source. Recognizing the immense need and positive impact of V2L technology, Epic Charging started a fundraising campaign to help more Ukraininans. “Each of these systems cost $2,000 - $3,000 US dollars and are difficult to ship,” said Russell Vare, advisor to Epic Charging. “We would like to help more Ukrainians access reliable electricity during power blackouts.”
The upcoming fundraising campaign aims to raise $30,000 to enable the organizers to deliver V2L backup power to more communities in need. “By joining forces with donors, sponsors, and individuals passionate about sustainable living, we aim to make a tangible difference in the lives of families, while simultaneously reducing carbon emissions and promoting clean energy adoption,” said Michael Bakunin, CEO at Epic Charging.
